An original, acoustic, alternative Christmas song by Irish singer/songwriter Metaphorest. The song talks about how what people’s lives appear like from the outside isn’t always how they actually are. The festive season in particular can be difficult for a lot of people. This is a holiday song for all the sad folks.

LYRICS:
Driving, December time
In the early dark
Glimpses of other lives
People playing parts

Every window
Frames a story
Every one has sorrow
Every one has glory

From the outside looking in
They are paper thin
They are smiling
The amber glow
Of a life you don’t know
Is beguiling

Flowers on the mantelpiece
Smoke from the chimney spills
Sat at the table
The family gets their fill

Their silence is silver
At least so to you it seems
You cannot hear the
Sigh of unspoken dreams

There’s a lie, there’s a love
There’s a curse, there’s a promise
A tragedy, humanity
At its most honest
A fairytale, a miracle
A terrible secret
Everything is evident
We just don’t see it

When driving December time
In the early dark
