Area 51 (2015)
Film Review
By the Geezer of Oz
“Three young conspiracy theorists attempt to uncover the mysteries of Area 51, the government’s secret location rumored to have hosted encounters with alien beings. What they find at this hidden facility exposes unimaginable secrets.” (IMDb)
Another found footage film that, despite being directed and co-written by Oren Peli (Chernobyl Diaries, Paranormal Activity), is quite an average film that has its moments but ultimately fails to ignite.
It starts off well, but remains in the same gear pretty much throughout with a fairly common storyline and predictable turns. The production value is fair for a found footage piece and the performances are above average, which is somewhat impressive when considering it is helmed by a group of fairly unknown actors.
Some may find it thrilling and possibly scary in parts, but to me it was all too predictable and as a result, quite disappointing.
Neither here nor there. 5/10.
