Emelie (2015)
Film Review
By the Geezer of Oz
“A couple’s replacement babysitter turns out to be more than they bargained for when she subjects their kids to a series of twisted activities.” (IMDb)
More thriller than horror, but not too bad. This one follows the all-too-familiar narrative of the stranger, a babysitter, who infiltrates an all-American family with sinister intentions.
Sarah Bolger (The Moth Diaries, The Lazarus effect) is effective in the main role of Emelie. The performances by the rest of the cast are also credible and the production value is fairly high, so it is worth a look if you like this sub-genre.
Overall it does not re-invent the genre in any way, but is still somewhat entertaining.
Above average. 6/10.
