Honeymoon (2014)

Film Review

By the Geezer of Oz

“A newlywed couple finds their lake-country honeymoon descend into chaos after Paul finds Bea wandering and disoriented in the middle of the night.” (IMDb)

Despite an almost too slow of a start and some head-scratching storyline choices, Honeymoon (2014) is overall more good than bad.

Director Leigh Janiak‘s feature debut is a good one. She has an interesting eye and seems to get the best out of her actors. The excellent performances by its two leads, Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful, Cockneys Vs. Zombies) and Rose Leslie (TV’s Game of Thrones, Morgan), actually make it a well above average, tense horror-thriller.

This film is another example on how sometimes the whole can be greater than the sum of it parts. As a viewing experience, this low budget affair is definitely interesting enough and is worth checking out. 7/10.
