I Saw The Devil (2010)

Film Review

By the Geezer of Oz

A South Korean revenge horror-thriller directed by Kim Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters).

An NIS agent, played by Byung-hun Lee (A Bittersweet Life, The Magnificent Seven remake) embarks on a quest of revenge when his fiancée is brutally murdered by a psychopathic murderer, played by Min-sik Choi (Oldboy, Lucy). The line between good and evil begins to blur when the two play a sick, dangerous game of cat and mouse.

While it does tend to fall into melodrama in parts and certain angles of the storyline seemed somewhat illogical to me, this is still one of the best films l have seen in recent times.

The directing is top-notch, the acting is at times masterful and the cinematography is largely of the best I’ve seen in a long time.

Highly recommended! 8.5/10.
