What We Do In The Shadows (2014)

Film Review

By the Geezer of Oz

“A documentary team films the lives of a group of vampires for a few months. The vampires share a house in Wellington, New Zealand. Turns out vampires have their own domestic problems too.” (IMDb)

A hilarious mockumentary from rapidly climbing the Hollywood ladder director, Taika Waititi (Eagle Vs. Shark, Boy, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Thor: Ragnarok), and co-director Jemaine Clement (Dinner for Schmucks, Men in Black 3, Gentlemen Broncos, but perhaps most well known for being one half of the hilarious duo, Flight of the Concords).

The two also star in this brilliant horror comedy, along the likes of Jonny Brugh (How to Meet Girls From a Distance), Ben Fransham (The Ferryman, 30 Days of Night) and the always hilarious Rhys Darby (Yes Man, TV’s Flight of the Concords, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, TV’s Wrecked).

All that needs to be said is that, in my opinion, this is the funniest horror comedy since 2004’s Shaun of the Dead. Do with that as you will.

Brilliant. 8.5/10.
