Would You Rather has a potential-filled premise that could have been made into something greater had more attention been put into the visual aspect and the script (mainly in character development).
I’m pretty sure that budget limitations had a lot to do with it, but it seems that more importance was placed on casting “familiar faces” than on cinematography and writing.
The film stars Brittany Snow (Prom Night 2008, Pitch Perfect 1,2,3, Bushwick, Hangman), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator films series, Necronomicon: Book of the Dead, The Frighteners, House on Haunted Hill 1&2), John Heard (Cat People, C.H.U.D., Sharknado, TV’s The Sopranos, Prison Break), Sasha Grey (The Girlfriend Experience, The Scribbler, Open Windows, TV’s Entourage) but would have been better served with a group of unknowns and more attention placed on the script and technical aspects.
Although a below par, predictable film, it was still somewhat entertaining due to the premise.
Might work for some, but I would have rathered not. 5.5/10.
