Jared Johnson
FX Artist and Horror Writer

Jared Johnson is a self-taught wood worker and FX artist. As a massive fan of the horror genre and great interest in special make-up FX, Jared has worked on haunts creating zombies and opens-up shop on Halloween weekends to perform make-up FX for Halloween costumes.

With over 15 years of experience using silicones, latex, and make-up, he took his work a step further and began learning to sculpt wood and clay. In 2009, Diehard Horror was born, a small practical effects business where Jared self-promoted his work. This business gave birth to a hand crafter display stand for hockey masks and has since been recognized as The Home of The Hock Display. The display stand was converted into another display, The Sphere Gate Display which has been made to give Phantasm spheres a floating appearance.

Jared also sculpts clay, makes Silicone and Gypsum molds and casts resin and latex busts. There are also resin and foam cosplay weapons available at Diehard Horror including a Hatchet, and TCM Hammers.

When he’s not busy working in the shop, Jared has put together a serious and big Horror prop replica and art museum in his home. Hailed to be one of the bigger collections around, it is an 18-year project painstakingly built from the ground up with no cap.

Jared is engaged to his beautiful fiancé Kristen and has two amazing children. In addition, Jared is also a talented writer. In July 2023, he self-published a book short horror stories, titled Terror Bay: A Diehard Horror Story.
